      It is remarkable how many of the few islanders have written about their lives. In German the books (e.g. by Thomas O'Crohan "the boats don't sail anymore", translated by Heinrich Böll!) or the autobiography by Peig Sayers are difficult to get even from antiquarian sources, but in English try it in the Blasket Exhibition Center. After reading, your view of the islands will be completely different! Especially since there are still ruins.
