The route of the Autobahn 46 with some bridge piers, underpasses and cuts in the terrain is considered the longest traffic ruin in Germany. Begun in 1937-1939, construction was not resumed after World War II, as a geographically much less problematic route was chosen for the later A7 between Würzburg and Fulda.
