  • Barcelona's Head, known as La Cabeza de Barcelona or La Cara de Barcelona is a sculpture by the American graphic artist Roy Lichtenstein, an exponent of North American pop-art and made by the sculptor from Badajoz Diego Delgado Rajado in the years 1991 and 1992. In those years, the city was undergoing a radical change in infrastructure and urban decoration to host the 1992 Olympic Games.The Face of Barcelona on the Paseo Colón.
    The sculpture is located on Paseo Colón, near the Post Office and Telegraph building, perfectly visible thanks to its 15 meters high and 6 meters wide. The work was made with eight prefabricated pieces of artificial stone, stainless steel staples and a ceramic coating that totaled 90 tons in total, it belongs to a series of faces entitled Brushstrokes (brushstrokes). It is designed as large brushstrokes that form the face on a background of chromatic dots of red arranged in relief and covered with mosaic, as a tribute by the artist to Catalan modernism.
