The Kiekkaaste, in the far east of the Wadden area, is the only bird watching hut outside the dykes in the Netherlands. This is accessible from the Nieuw Statenzijl lock complex via the Marcelluspad. From the cabin you have a beautiful view over the muddy fields of the Dollard, an estuary on the border with Germany. You look out over hundreds of colorful sandpipers and with a bit of luck a few seals.
