The Evangelical Apostle Church in Ovenstädt is Romanesque in its original core. It was first mentioned in 1204, but is considerably older. The historic baptismal font dates back to 1100. The tower, with a loophole on the south side, served as a place of refuge and defense for the population. After being destroyed in the Thirty Years' War, the church was rebuilt in 1640 and converted into a late baroque peasant church in 1772, with pictures of the apostles on the organ gallery. It has been preserved in its original form to this day: a historical rarity!

There is a stork nesting place on the roof ridge of the church, which has been regularly occupied for years. The Apostle Church is located directly on the "Sigwardsweg" pilgrimage route and about 200 m away from the Weser Cycle Path (wooden sign at the Brinkstraße junction). The little "detour" is worth it. Recently, the church has also been open outside of church service times from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. ("open church") during the summer months.
