The Häverner Marsch nature reserve is 104 hectares in size. It is located in the natural area of the Weser Valley between the districts of Hävern and Grossenheerse of the city of Petershagen and is part of the EC bird sanctuary "Weseraue".

The nature reserve, consisting of six larger still waters created by gravel excavation, is characterized by near-natural bank structures with flat banks, peninsulas and reed beds. The area is crossed by the Rottbach and individual trenches. The former harbor basin is connected to the Weser. Both the flowing waters and the connection to the Weser complete the biotope mosaic.

The Häverner Marsch gains importance through its year-round function as a breeding, resting, moulting and wintering place. The waders and waterfowl that can be found here include the little ringed plover, the golden bell and the reed warbler. In connection with the adjacent Weseraue nature reserve, the Häverner Marsch as a core nature reserve is an outstanding part of the European bird sanctuary.
