Wiesbaden's main station is certainly one of the most beautiful in Germany in terms of architecture. What really makes it unique, however, is the fact that there is a large green area opposite it, the Reisinger Anlage. Arriving travelers are greeted by greenery and not, as in many other cities, by a dingy station area.

Today's main station is located in the southeast district and replaced three stations in the inner city area, all three of which stood next to each other in the area of today's exhibition center (RheinMain CongressCenter) and the State Museum. These were:

the Taunus station (built in 1840) for the Taunus Railway (Wiesbaden - Castel - Frankfurt-Höchst - Frankfurt (Taunus station))

the Rhein station (built in 1857) for the right bank of the Rhine (Wiesbaden - Biebrich - Rüdesheim am Rhein - Niederlahnstein)

the Ludwig station (built in 1879) for the Ländchesbahn (Wiesbaden - Niedernhausen)
