You can only get here if you have paid the €7.50 entrance fee at the visitor center. Not a lighthouse in the true sense, but a nice additional exhibition in the walk-in lighthouse. The interns are friendly and happy to answer any questions. A visit is worthwhile even when it is foggy. Southwestern point of Ireland!

Here, where the Mizen and Sheep's Head peninsulas protrude like fingers into the sea, you can feel the concentrated power of nature. The cliffs that stretch defiantly into the roaring Atlantic are an unforgettable spectacle. A narrow bridge takes you to Mizen Head Lighthouse, a historical gem. Not your typical lighthouse, but with an exhibition lovingly looked after by friendly interns. Even in fog, this place has a very special magic.

Not far away is the village of Goleen, which arose at a crossroads in the 19th century and today impresses with a hidden harbor that gave it the name "Goilin" (small inlet). The fishing boats and yachts moored to its wharf tell stories of the rough seas and the adventures they have experienced.

The Sheep's Head peninsula, with its almost untouched landscape, offers you an oasis of peace. The signposted hiking trails take you through a country that has hardly changed for centuries. Here you can lose yourself and find yourself new at the same time.

Schull, a paradise for sailors, pulsates with life in summer. Festivals and regattas attract visitors, while the planetarium - the only one in Ireland - reveals the secrets of the universe.

When you arrive in Toormore, the mysterious Wedge Tombs are waiting for you to discover. Their history and that of the surrounding region comes to life in the wonderful paintings of birds and butterflies created by a talented artist.

The rocky outcrop of Mizen Head stretches defiantly into the raging Atlantic and the old lighthouse has stood high above the waves for over 100 years. A few steps and a few turns along the coast and you come to a bridge that takes you out onto the small headland. On the other side you will discover the lighthouse, the old keeper's house and of course the breathtaking scenery of the south-west coast.
