Crowned with the eagle, the heraldic animal of the Federal Republic of Germany as before of the German Empire, there is a round column on a square pedestal. It is a cenotaph that can be found here - as well as in almost every other town - or also called a war memorial. More recently, the term “Fallen Memorial” has been increasingly used to emphasize the aspect of remembering the victims of war and tyranny.
