A lovely descent from (or climb to) Bartonend through a very pretty valley. There is a bit of a wall at the Horsley end, but this is relatively short. It can be made in to a significant climb by continuing up Horsley Hill or better and more in keeping, crossing the road and after a short descent, taking the steep climb through Downend to Shortwood. The road is in pretty good nick for a narrow country lane, though care is required with some of the bends.
