The former state castle Lechenich of the archbishops and electors of Cologne is today surrounded by parks in a semicircle in the north-east corner of the old town of Lechenich. Built at the beginning of the 14th century in fire bricks and protected by ditches, the moated castle has also been referred to as a castle since the 16th century. The Landesburg was one of the mightiest Rhenish castle complexes. The Landesburg had a predecessor in the southwest of the city, which was destroyed in 1301.

From the castle park you have a very good view of the ruins.
But it's better to just look at the ruins, the castle park is more of a rubbish dump...
