Small authentic village in the interior of the Basque Country. Nestled on an open plateau in the valley of the same name, it lies at the foot of the border ridge.

Very nice little, remote place in the Basque hills.
There is a gas station with a small shop, probably also a small grocery store (closed on Mondays), a post office, an ice cream parlor/bar/restaurant in one, various gites and a youth hostel (as of 2016). Although the youth hostel was apparently not in operation, we were able to get the key from the restaurant operator and spend the night there.

Aldudes is a small village of Pyrénées-Atlantiques, located in the valley that gave it its name. It is located in an area of Spanish pastures, but worked by French farmers. Common border with Spain, Aldudes is also located on the banks of the Nive of Aldudes. The village takes its name from the Basque Aldubide, meaning path to the top. The village has long been known for its agriculture, especially since it was founded in the sixteenth century.
