The Altanon Hostel is the site of a successful architectural recovery: it was in fact the house of the keepers of the nearby old Enel hydroelectric plant, which was put back into operation in the 1990s.
The wooden and stone building of the hostel belongs to the Municipality of Santa Giustina who renovated it, transforming it into an accommodation facility today managed by the InDolomiti Consortium which has obtained the Quality Mark of the Dolomiti Bellunesi National Park: it hosts up to 24 people, in typical and welcoming rooms, with the possibility to choose between accommodation in b & b, half board or full board.
A particular service is offered to those who go there by bicycle: custody, workshop and accompaniment with guide for experienced and less experienced cyclists.
Fulcrum of educational and promotional initiatives in the foothills area, it is the starting point for conscious hiking, trekking and guided tours and geotourism itineraries, in particular towards the top of Monte Pizzocco and the nearby Val Scura in the Belluno Dolomites National Park.
