In 1962 the passenger service Braunschweig-Plockhorst was discontinued, 1971 followed the cessation of passenger traffic Celle-Plockhorst for lack of demand.
Today the route is shut down and largely dismantled.
This section Westercelle-Nienhagen is the route of a natural gas pipeline and released for cyclists and pedestrians. Especially nice are the two bridges over the Fuhsekanal.
