In October 1992, the American artist Mark di Suvero installed the "Enlightened One", which is the German translation of "L'Allumé", in Bonn's parliamentary district directly on the banks of the Rhine. Back then, the steel girders gleamed bright red. Over the years, the color had faded, the steel had rusted and graffiti had marred it. Therefore, the Federal Office for Building and Regional Planning (BBR) carried out the restoration for around 50,000 euros on behalf of the owner, the Federal Agency for Real Estate Tasks.
