Blossom Trail (Bergstraße-Odenwald)

It's probably not hard to guess where the flower path gets its name, is it? So it's worth keeping your eyes open during your hike. Numerous colorful flowers bloom along the side of the path.

The Blossom Trail leads along the Bergstrasse for around 80 km from Darmstadt to Heidelberg. It runs parallel to the Burgensteig, but at a lower altitude and with less gradient.

Just like the Burgensteig, the Blossom Trail is also rich in attractions: almost all of the Bergstrasse vineyards, towns worth seeing (e.g. Heppenheim, Weinheim, Heidelberg) and particularly rich and flowery vegetation in the gardens and on the slopes of the Bergstrasse are crossed.

“This is where Germany begins to become Italy,” Emperor Josef II is said to have said about the Bergstrasse. On his journey to the coronation in Frankfurt, his path took him along this historic trade and military route. You can experience this Mediterranean feeling while hiking on the Bergstrasse Blossom Trail, which connects Darmstadt with Heidelberg.

We can only recommend this route. Nice viewpoints. Ok you have to go through towns, but still very nice.
