Anyone who looks at these thick and bizarre beech trees (with enough imagination) can imagine all sorts of mythical creatures and monsters. Forest octopuses, for example, or the Ents from Tolkien's Lord of the Rings. Or, who likes it a little harder, creatures from H.R. Giger. When I see such trees, I can always imagine how the old stories of forest spirits, writings, etc. came about. This highlight should probably be visited with a new moon at midnight, with a pine span as lighting. Maybe I'll catch up again ...
