In 1622, Heidelberg was besieged and then captured by General Tilly from the Catholic side during the Thirty Years' War. Mingolsheim was the site of a battle between the opposing parties and was destroyed as a result. The house opposite partially survived this destruction and is considered the oldest house in today's Bad Mingolsheim.
