Starting point of the Graf zu Münster-Steig

Linz itself was first mentioned in 1220 as Lince. In 1581 the Lord of Polenz had the moated castle complex converted into a palace. Further renovations probably took place in the 18th century. After 1860, Baron von Palm commissioned renovations in the neo-Gothic style. The castle had three full floors and a round tower.

In 1945 the property was expropriated and Linz Castle was converted into accommodation for refugees and displaced persons. Although Linz Castle was structurally in good condition, it was demolished in 1948 to extract building materials. The emergency apartments that had been set up were therefore closed.

The former moat with two arched bridges is still there, as is the basement foundation of the castle, which is located like a fortress in the middle of the water. The castle park is only partially visible. The farm of the former manor still exists. [Source: Saxony's Castles]
