The Church of St. Laurentius in Zell was rebuilt in its present form in 1487, has Romanesque origins and is therefore one of the oldest places of worship in the region. In addition to the St. Servatius Church near Schleching and the Church of Urschalling near Prien, it contains what are probably the most important early and late Gothic frescoes in the Chiemsee Alps. The current appearance of the church was shaped by three major construction phases in the late Romanesque/early Gothic, late Gothic and Baroque periods. The interior design and especially the simple baroque altars are also worth a look.
