    Located within sight of the "yellow line" hiking trail (Ramsen - Rosenthalerhof), I came across this house through a detailed article in the regional newspaper RHEINPFALZ:
    This is the former hunting residence of the former Nazi Gauleiter Josef Bürckel (1895 - 1944), who was mainly responsible for the Nazi reign of terror in the Palatinate, the Saar region and occupied Lorraine. In addition to many other crimes, Bürckel is responsible for the deportation of the entire Jewish population from the Palatinate and Saarland to Gurs/France (October 22, 1940).

    The hunting lodge currently belongs to the Donnersberg forestry office (state of Rhineland-Palatinate) and is leased to the lessee of the local hunting district. It has been under monument protection since 2019 (since it was built by a personality who was relevant to the history of the Palatinate under National Socialism). The "most powerful Palatinate Nazi" (quote RHEINPFALZ) often spent his weekends here when he wanted to escape from his home in Neustadt (Weinstrasse).
    A sign pointing to Josef Bürckel and his murderous rule under National Socialism here in the Palatinate has not (yet) been installed.
