During the rezoning of vineyards in 1978, three adjacent sarcophagi were discovered and excavated on the top of the "Greifenberg" hill. Examination by employees of the Mainz State Office for Monument Preservation revealed that they date back to the 4th century AD. One of the sarcophagi now stands in the Sulzheim Cemetery (= this one). The grave goods, a glass jug, and a glass vial, are on display in the Alzey Museum.
