“Only your own garden would be fresher!” Exulted the AStA when it recommended the “Studi-Kiste” from the Apfelbacher organic farm in Bornheim-Brenig to fellow students at the Cologne University of Applied Sciences. Fresh produce fans have been supplied with the vegetable subscription since 1995 - now to more than 2,500 households. The family business is a partner in the Ökokiste NRW producer group and the Bioland association. Vegetables are mainly grown on 13 hectares of land, with berries also growing in the fields. Today 16 people have jobs “that are based on biologically sustainable and environmentally friendly agriculture”.
