Hiking
The name Garsthuizer Voorwerk refers to the preliminary work that used to be here, just behind the Fiveldijk. It was a preliminary work of the Benedictine monastery Feldwerd from Oldenklooster.
In the hamlet there are two farms, both called Garsthuizer Voorwerk. The western one is also called Groot Garsthuizer Voorwerk and the eastern Klein Garsthuizer Voorwerk. The eastern farm was rebuilt in 1929 in a Groningen variant of the Amsterdam School under the direction of architect Berend Jager.
