Eitra is a part of the community Hauneck in the eastern Hessian district of Hersfeld-Rotenburg.

The place is between Bodes in the south and Sieglos in the north. The oldest known written mention of Eitra took place under the name Eyter in 1385. In 1494, Wüstung was a fiefdom of the von Buchenau knightly dynasty. In terms of administration, the place belonged to the Schildschlag office at that time. The place belongs to the evangelical parish Unterhaun, but has its own evangelical-reformed church, which was built in 1894 by the places Eitra and Sieglos together. Today about 370 people live in Eitra.
