Unfortunately, the water tower with its viewing platform has been closed for ages.

He looks down on Boeblingen and is waiting for its rehabilitation.

The Böblingen Water Tower, opened in 1928, is a historic landmark. The tower not only offers fascinating insights into the history of water supply, but also breathtaking views of Böblingen, towards Stuttgart, across the Alb, the Schönbuch, and the Black Forest.

The Böblingen water tower (sometimes also referred to as the water tower on the Waldburg) is a water tower completed in 1928 with a tank of 80 cubic meters.

The 31.2 meter high water tower has a viewing platform at a height of 28 meters that used to be open to the public but is now closed, to which 151 steps lead. The tower is the highest accessible structure in Böblingen.

The water tower was designed by the city master builder Gustav Eberle and built by the Kopp company. Depending on the source, the construction costs for the tower amounted to between 6,300 and around 15,000 Reichsmarks, to which the Swabian Alb Association contributed with a construction cost subsidy of 1,000 Reichsmarks. The tower was inaugurated on April 1, 1928 by the mayor Georg Kraut, and went into operation on July 1, 1928.

The tower was taken out of service in 2004 and has been in operation again since 2011 after renovation. Since 2019, the tower is no longer accessible as a lookout tower.
