Good things come to those who wait: Kilkenny Castle took 800 years to build and the result is truly magnificent. The first stone for the fortified castle was laid in the 13th century after the Normans had conquered the country. Today most of the building has been remodeled in the Victorian style. After visiting the historic walls, the extensive park with rose garden and lake invites you to take a stroll. You can quench your hunger and thirst in the Tea Room.

Beautiful well kept castle in a stunning little town. The gardens and inside the castle are pristine and on a good sunny day beautiful to look at.

Kilkenny Castle (Irish: Caisleán Chill Chainnigh) is a castle in Kilkenny, the capital of the county of the same name in the Republic of Ireland. Kilkenny Castle was built from 1195 to 1213 to control a ford across the River Nore and several trade routes. The complexes, originally with four strong corner towers and the partially preserved moat, were a central part of the city's defenses and are considered a sign of the Norman presence in Ireland.
