The Neckar-Enz-Stellungen were built between 1935 and 1938 and stretched from Eberbach in the Odenwald on the Neckar to Enzweihingen near Vaihingen an der Enz. They were intended to prevent potential French incursions through the Kraichgau. After the fall of the Westwall towards the end of the Second World War, the Wehrmacht managed to delay the advance of Allied forces by twelve days through this second line of fortifications.
