Old manor from the 13th century

The manor from the 13th century or today's Möhler Castle is located in the former Menninghausen farmers of the parish of Oelde. Today only the main building of the former two-wing baroque building is still standing. Over the centuries the Möhler house changed hands frequently. The Duke von Croy from Dülmen was the owner of the Möhler estate until the 1980s. The current owners are committed citizens of the Herzebrock-Clarholz community, who lovingly (and with considerable financial outlay) take care of the maintenance of the building and the surrounding area.

Since the interior is used commercially, the castle cannot be viewed from the inside. A trip to Möhler is definitely worth it. The Möhleraner don't just take care of "their" castle. In the last few years in particular, a distinctive village life has developed. The expression of this common commitment is the multiple successful participation in the competition "Our village should become more beautiful". Trees were planted on streets and paths, bus shelters were renewed and community activities were developed.

A village development concept has meanwhile emerged from these initiatives with the help of an expert planner. Taking into account the natural conditions, the preservation of the historical building fabric and the completion of the settlement structure, the entire townscape is to be further designed. Möhler has a well-developed network of hiking trails in and around the village. The path along the "Zum Trostholz" street, past the old school, over the Axtbach and then past the Möhler house east of the graves to the Ludgerus chapel is particularly attractive.

Since May 2016 you can try swingolf in the enchanting baroque garden at Möhler Castle.

Nice castle. Located on the route always worth a closer look.
