At 763.8 m above sea level, the Hoherodskopf is the second highest peak in the Vogelsberg low mountain range. It is located in the district of the Schotten district of Breungeshain in the Vogelsberg district of Hesse. On the mountain, which offers good views, there are parking spaces, restaurants, overnight accommodation, ski slopes with lifts, cross-country ski trails, a summer toboggan run, a climbing forest, a treetop path, a mini golf course, an information center, a gliding area and the Hoherodskopf radio tower. The Hoherodskopf radio tower (also known as the Schotten 1 radio transmission point) is a 144-meter-high radio tower made of reinforced concrete on the Hoherodskopf near Schotten, the second highest elevation in Hesse. The standardized type tower FMT 2/73 was built between 1976 and 1977 by the then German Federal Post Office as a replacement for an older steel lattice tower. For decades it was by far the tallest building in the Vogelsberg district, until it was surpassed in 2008 by two 150 m high wind turbines in the Fleschenbach-Neustall wind farm near Freiensteinau.Source: Wikipedia
