On this meadow above the Villach Warmbad you can still see today that Villach was already a road junction in ancient times. Parts of a Roman road are still there. And burial mounds from this era prove that a settlement from the Hallstatt period (700-450 BC) must have stood here before the Romans. This spot was given the name Napoleon Meadow because the Emperor of the French wanted to create a park here during the occupation (1797-1813).
