But who was the mysterious Cramer, whose grave is in the Schenck family cemetery near Wäldershausen? Friedrich Cramer was a forester and was in the service of Baron von Schenck zu Schweinsberg in Wäldershausen. He was a well-liked man, not least because of his cheerful disposition and reliability. Over the Easter holidays in 1846, there were visitors at the Wäldershausen estate, and the forester was required to shoot a roebuck for the feast. One evening he set out and took with him a double-barreled shotgun and a stalking rifle. Where he hoped to find the game, Cramer had to advance through dense bushes. Unfortunately, a shot was fired. The forester was seriously injured, but he still managed to run to an inn in Homberg. There he sent for a doctor and his wife, to whom he was able to tell the whole misfortune before he died. He was 55 years old. The unfortunate forester was buried in the noble family's cemetery.
