The Garden of Troubles by artist Al Balis is without a doubt the most remarkable garden in Alsemberg. In the Garden of Disasters you will find rather bizarre works of art made from very diverse materials such as scrap iron and other waste. In combination with the peculiar choice of plants and the equally strange garden design, the artworks create a very special and very playful whole. This garden is only open to the public on open days.

A sculpture garden blooms in the Brabant landscape. The 'Garden of Troubles' consists of spatial creations in the open air. An accumulation of images, installations, plants and objects, form a coherent “environment”.

The interaction and integration of art with nature is a constant in this garden. Outdoor art lives to the rhythm of nature. This environment creates a pleasant condition for optimal enjoyment of art and nature. Here you can catch your breath.

This garden is experienced as a magical place, a kind of sacred sanctuary, a meeting place for artists not in accordance with current standards.

The incredible variety of materials, the cheerful colors and the possibilities of association make for an ambiguous poetry, metropolitan poetry in a rural environment.

The Garden of Troubles is known as an eye-catcher during walks in the beautiful nature between the Senne and Zoniën. Now that a lot of people are doing 'staycation', the Garden of Troubles is a hotspot. There is a lot to see along the street side, the curiosity for 'more' is great. That is why we organize an expo every year.

Even without visiting it inside, it is surprising to see when passing by, with its extravagant and impressive sculptures.
