The spring is located on the steep slope above the Kaltenleutgebener church. In the 19th century Kaltenleutgeben was a spa town (cold water baths against heart and circulatory diseases). The Rebecca source supplied a cold water station. By abandoning the health resort (1st half of the 20th century), the source lost its importance. In 2003, the source was redrafted
