As early as the 14th century, merchants traveling between Breslau and Leipzig stayed at the inn in Schweinerden. In 1694 the regular postal service between Leipzig and Breslau began. That is why a post office was set up in the Gasthof Schweinerden in 1713, which existed until 1807. The inn tenant was also the postman. He always had to keep fresh horses ready and to provide food and accommodation for the travelers.
