The Armensee is located in the immediate vicinity of the district town of Rendsburg in the municipality of Fockbeck. Also known as Fockbeker See or Seemühlensee, the name has its own history.

The lake belonged to the city of Rendsburg until 1989. But as early as the 16th century there was a dispute over fishing rights on the lake between the city and the settlers who settled on the lake. However, the city of Rendsburg was able to refer to the memorial book from 1495, which stipulates that the city of Rendsburg has sole fishing rights for the benefit of the poor in the poorhouses. This is how the name of the lake came about.
