In the north of the Geesthacht district it has a rural and moral effect. Well-tended fields, small forests and beautiful hiking and biking trails invite visitors to enjoy a leisurely day of rest. You can also see horses in the pastures - so a riding stables shouldn't be far. The “rural Geesthacht” is just as much a part of the place as the industrial areas in Düneberg and Krümmel.
The area is called "Hasenthal". What's behind it? Today's Hasenthal estate is the successor to a sheep farm founded in the 18th century that the Gülzow lords built up between the “Grüner Jäger” rest stop and their headquarters in Gülzow to improve their income.
The oldest existing buildings on the property date from the time it was founded. Later the sheep farm was given up and the property was converted into a leasehold for agriculture.
With the tremendous change in agriculture in the 1950s, a new era began for Hasenthal too. Wilhelm Maak, himself a good rider, took on his first riding horses "for retirement". The result was a riding stables that now house over 60 horses. In addition to the riding business with lessons and tournaments, the family continues to run agriculture.geesthacht.de/index.phtml?&ModID=7&FID=25.4763.1&object=tx%7C25.4763.1More detailed information about the Gut Hasenthal riding stables:gut-hasenthal.de
