In 2019, the long-unused bunker systems in the Farchau Forest were upgraded by the district forest and nature park together with the AG Bat Conservation for Bats. Material was removed, entry slots made on the doors and special structures created that are suitable for bats. Hollow blocks, boxes and trapezoidal slabs offer ideal conditions for undisturbed hibernation.
