Hiking

The Spaal desert can be found near the Schmieden district of the Uhlstädt-Kirchhasel community. This place used to be a small round village, which from 1725 served as a farm and sheep farm. In 1910 the village was abandoned, most of the houses demolished and a large part of the area reforested. Today you can only find the remains of stone walls and a small fireplace with seating.
