The building was built by Heinrich Vins around 1870 with its own funds. It was created in memory of a pilgrimage to Trier. The chapel houses the patron saint of Trier, St. Matthias. It is made of brick with a 3-sided apse, arched windows and a pointed arch niche with a gable.
