The Hinterrhein is dammed near Sufers and also takes in some of the smaller mountain streams that have their source in the Beverin Nature Park. The lake is framed by wooded mountain slopes and blends in very nicely with the landscape. The motorway runs along the north bank, while a wonderfully quiet gravel road runs along the south bank.

The forest path has a natural surface, but is easily passable for normal bicycles. The route has only a slight incline, you drive off the road and have a wonderful view over the lake.

if you manage to get the turn right - coming down from Splügen - the southern route along the lake is far nicer than the road on the Northern shores.
