The catholic church building St. Silvester is the former parish church of the no longer independent parish St. Silvester in Erle, a village in the district of Borken in Westmünsterland. The three-aisled church building was built in the neo-Gothic style mainly from field fire bricks and sandstone. In its current state, the spire is covered with black slate and the nave and the choir with red roof tiles.

      Hello hiking community,

During my trip to Raesfeld Castle, I became aware of the Erler Femeiche and visited it again.

This style oak is one (the?) oldest oak in Germany, which can no longer be reliably determined due to the lack of annual rings (the oak is hollow on the inside).

In the Middle Ages, Westphalian courts were held under this oak tree. Information boards - or for groups: guided tours - explain the historical phenomenon in more detail. I think a visit is highly recommended! Hence my advice: Raesfeld Castle with its zoo and the village of Erle.
