The Putzkauer Church rises on a small hill on the edge of the Wesenitz. Its current appearance is largely due to the renovations at the beginning of the 18th century. The church, which was first mentioned in 1386, received a tower instead of a ridge in 1706.

Jacob Heinrich Reichsgraf von Flemming, General Field Marshal and Cabinet Minister, had a great influence on Saxon history under Augustus the Strong. His final resting place is in the crypt on the south side of the Putzkau Church, where he was buried in 1728.

The Putzkauer Church rises on a small hill on the edge of the Wesenitz. Its current external appearance is mainly due to the rebuilding at the beginning of the 18th century. The church, which was first mentioned in 1386, received a tower instead of a ridge in 1706.

The interior of the church, with its large, almost square choir, is particularly impressive because of the superbly restored room setting, which is thanks to the extensive renovation under the direction of the Pirna master builder Theodor Quentin in 1891/92. The southern annex, which served as the sacristy, was demolished and a new sacristy was erected in the east. He replaced the wooden staircases with stair towers on the west side of the nave, and the entire interior was redesigned at the same time. Only the crystal chandeliers from 1841 and 1883 were still used. Despite the dark wooden ceiling, the room looks bright and friendly, which is certainly also due to the open altar area. The former pulpit above the altar has not been accessible since the sacristy was rebuilt in the 1990s.
