The essentially Romanesque hall church was built from quarry stone in 1511 and renovated in 1780. From the gable roof of the nave, which has a crooked hip in the west, a square, slate-covered roof turret rises in the middle, on which sits a bell-shaped hood crowned by a lantern. On the north side of the retracted choir in the east there is a mausoleum for the von Schwertzell family, who had their castle in the town. A tomb for Georg von Schwertzell comes from Andreas Herber.
The interior is spanned by a flat ceiling, which is supported by a beam on supports. The organ was built in 1764 by Johannes Schlottmann.
