Its beginnings probably date back to the 8th century.
In 1136, Pope Innocent II confirms to the Schuttern Abbey (Maria Hilf)
the possession in Schopfheim with church and patronage.
The parish church is first mentioned in documents in 1343.
Since the 14th century, there has been a pilgrimage to the Mother of Grace Maria Hilf.
In 1695, the parish church is described as dilapidated. It remained in ruins until 1750.
*Around 1760, the choir was restored. After 200 years,
in 1905, the roofless nave in the eastern part was covered.
