    "... Along the banks of the Rhine there is a narrow, strip-shaped softwood alluvial forest in which numerous trees of the native black poplar grow. This softwood alluvial forest is of high pan-European importance as a priority habitat , the river moorings accompanying the watercourse in the directly adjacent Rhine fish rest area and the humid bank high perennial meadows.This area complex is of outstanding importance for the habitat types of lean flatland hay meadows (moist smooth oat meadow, sage-smooth oat meadow, typical dry oat meadow, the last dry oat meadow here) and here and exemplary populations of these meadow communities, some of which are threatened with destruction, occur in North Rhine-Westphalia Section of the Rhine floodplain landscape of national importance with a largely complete and diverse habitat and the associated animal and plant communities typical of the floodplain. This floodplain complex is home to characteristic Stromtal plant species such as oriental goat whiskers, scabiosa knapweed, meadow sage and panicle dock. Thousands of meadow primroses that bloom in early spring as well as the very rare small meadow rue are floristic treasures of the Grind. The endangered bat species noctule bat and pipistrelle are found in the area. ... "
