The extremely handsome and comparatively large Protestant church was built between 1867 and 1869 and replaced an older church that had become dilapidated and whose winged altar from the 15th century has been preserved. The church is made of light gray sandstone that was quarried in Solling in quarries on Speerberg and near Lauenberg. In 2013 and 2014, the only pair of storks in Germany that "inhabited" the top of a church tower nested on its spire. In the green area behind the church there is a large World War II monument and a Luther linden tree.

In the green area behind the church there is a large World War II memorial and a Luther linden tree.
