In the Karlsruhe area, the higher area of the Rhine plain outside of the original Rhine floodplain is called the Hochgestade.
The brook below (in the deep bank) is the old Federbach. It runs there in the Fritschlach nature reserve.
From 1818 the Rhine was straightened by Tulla. Since then he has been about 2 km as the crow flies from here.
