The Duderstadt-Wulften line was opened in 1889. The extension to Leinefelde was added in 1897. After the Second World War, in 1945 the line between Teistungen and Gerblingerode was interrupted at the zone border. Duderstadt became a terminus.
In 1974 passenger traffic was stopped. The station was finally closed in 1996, and there was no longer any freight traffic.
Today the train station houses a pediatric practice and Ottobock Family Office.
