Tips

The Ferchweiler Plateau offers an impressive sandstone rock erosion landscape with the well-known Teufelsschlucht, but also numerous other gorges and chasms towards the Prümtal.

  • Man is better in the morning then there is not so much going on. Don't always just quickly follow the path. Just look left and right and go too. Above the Teufelsschlucht there is a small valley where you can easily walk through. From there you can look into the gorge. Dor there is a rock that looks like a muffle.

  • A great area with impressive rock formations! However, a lot of visitors! In summer, and especially on weekends, it should get quite crowded there, but it shouldn't be so nice on the narrow paths and the rock breakthroughs!

  • This gorge is actually something of the "classic" in this area. Hiked through it so many times. Always interesting! Already quite well developed for tourism with a visitor center and dinosaur park nearby. The last time I was there during the week was in mixed April weather and had everything to myself. Nearly. I met a family on the way.

  • Very well-known corner in the southern Eifel and fairly well "developed". There are three "devil's circular routes" that lead through the Teufelsschlucht with different lengths. The area is usually reached from Irrel (at the waterfalls or rapids) or from Ernzen (edge of the forest, Dinopark, visitor center).
Update at the end of 2022: The hiking bridge at the former waterfalls has not yet been replaced after the 2021 flood.

  • The Teufelsschlucht is an experience without equal. Here you can see how nature can shape areas and how small you are as a human being in comparison.

  • Not only the Teufelsschlucht itself, but the whole area around it with the many rocks is great for hiking. There are several circular routes that lead through the Teufelsschlucht, all of which are actually recommended.
